Merry Christmas To All from Son and Myself

A Christmas Story

It was a cold grey day. The chimneys had smoke hanging from them like pillows of cotton glued to the sky. There was no hiding from the Arctic air mass that rolled into the city and funneled through and around the monoliths of steel and glass, whose inhabitants were often dreaming of some warm tropical paradise or cozy fireplace as their escape from the deep-freeze that was bestowed upon them. Through all this, there she was, an elderly lady trudging through the bitter cold.

With a toque on her head. A big old scarf wrapped her chin and neck. A heavy overcoat adorned her portly body. Her hands were stuffed into homemade mittens and big old furry winter boots kept her feet warm, while she battled with old man winter.

She had an over laden canvas bag on one arm. On the other arm, tied around her wrist, was a long piece of twine. Tied to the other end was a small pine tree.

On she went, dragging this tree behind her, battling the icy wind. Her wrinkled old face smiling the whole time. Was she thinking of past memories with family and friends? Or maybe thoughts of upcoming meetings with loved ones. Whatever brought that lovely smile on made her determined to win the battle against the icy air mass that encompassed the city.

People who saw her soon forgot the bitter cold as their hearts warmed with thoughts of soon sharing the time with their loved ones. After all, it was Christmas.

On The Way To Grandma's

Our Grandmother's home town. A typical cookie cutter prairie town! Very spooky. I have been to a number of small prairie towns in the years and it is amazing how they all have the same street layout and types of businesses on Main Street.

North of Crystal City, Manitoba.
Flax (purple/blue flower) and Canola (yellow)

Visiting Winnipeg

The Forks Market

Really enjoyed Winnipeg! The people were truly amazing! The city is so cultured. Lots to do around here. The road system was quite astounding. A few major Canadian cities should borrow some Winnipeg planners to get it right.

Delta Beach

Looking North

Looking West

Ahhh I'm in heaven...Delta Beach on Lake Manitoba

You could walk a mile out and the water may come up to your hips. All I needed was a giant air pump for a mean jacuzzi.

I needed 1000 SPF !!!

Sand was so hot I could barely walk on it!!!

At Home

Near our home in Calgary. "Hot time summer in the city...."

Home Sweet Home

This is my home, Calgary.
This is a fabulous city to live in. We just crossed the 1,000,000 mark for population. Believe it or not, only the 3rd city in Canada to do so.
